The new strategic plan isn’t quite ready for the stamp of approval from Smiths Falls council.
During last week’s committee of the whole meeting, various concerns were raised surrounding the proposed 27 initiatives staff and council would focus on over the course of their term.
Councillor Chris McGuire felt the goals were too plan and study heavy as opposed to action items.
Jennifer Miller agreed to her fellow councilor’s point, but shared a different perspective on the fewer number of items listed than the previous plan.
The previous strategic plan had 41 initiatives, 70% of which were action items and the remaining studies, compared to a 40-60 split in what was proposed last week.
CAO Malcom Morris says these types of documents are cyclical where the time comes for more studies than action, while councillor Peter McKenna argued that studies are action.
