Lanark Highlands Fire told Lake 88 a fire ban has been issued for their jurisdiction as the hot, dry conditions continue.
Carleton Place have issued a ban as well, sharing the news on social media.
The province has also extended the zone they deem at extreme risk of Forest Fires to include an area just west of Westport, north to the highlands, and across to Mississippi Mills.
Before igniting any sort of fire, make sure to check with your municipality to make sure its okay to do so, and also make sure you have the required permits.
Failure to do so could have catastrophic results and result in steep fines.
