
Dillon Consulting Limited told Smiths Falls council that the town remains in good economic shape in the long run, despite the layoffs from Canopy Growth and another closure of 1 Hershey Drive.
The firm was hired to conduct a land needs analysis last year and weighed in on the company’s consolidation after it was announced in February.
Senior Planner and Land Economics Antony Lorius thinks the layoffs while unfortunate, are only a minor setback in the big picture.
Mayor Shawn Pankow sees things similarly.
The analysis provides growth, economic, and residential projections until 2046.
