Smiths Falls Police Services is in its preliminary stages of crafting its business plan for 2024-2027.
Police Chief Mark MacGillivray told the police services board the first steps include consultation with both stakeholders and the public.
He says there’ll be at least one public consultation in the process and multiple if the demand is there, which he says hasn’t been the case in the past.
In another update regarding the 2023 budget, the chief says right now they’re staying par with the $5.2 million Smiths Falls council budgeted for them in February.
He notes the overtime pay has seen a steady increase due to the old water treatment plant fire remaining an active crime scene, noting that some of those additional costs will be recovered through insurance.
