Volunteers and supporters of Furry Tales Cat Rescue in Drummond North Elmsley rallied at the township’s council meeting to show their support for the rescue, which is currently at risk of closure.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the public to express their opinions, as Furry Tales seeks to have its property rezoned to ensure the continuation of its mission to rescue cats.
The situation arose due to a public complaint and the discovery of an un-permitted structure on the rescue’s premises.
In response, an online petition has gained significant traction, accumulating over 20,000 signatures. Donna MacRae, the founder of Furry Tales, was deeply moved by the overwhelming attendance at the meeting.
A decision regarding the rezoning request is anticipated to be made by the council later this summer.
