Hamish Fraser is back behind the bench.
The Arnprior Packers have hired the long-time coach and general manager across the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League for the 2023-24 season.
Fraser was most recently the head coach of the Carleton Place Jr. Canadians, charged with developing a young and inexperienced team throughout last season. The team announced in April he would not be returning.
He’s replacing Barry Cape, who announced on Twitter in early April his departure from the Packers after four seasons, the last of which they posted a 37-5 record before being swept in the Richardson Division Final by the eventual champion Perth Blue Wings.
A weekly guest on Lake 88’s Junior Hockey Talk for several years, Fraser’s compiled a career record of 244-155-23, leading his clubs to a pair of league finals, three semi-finals and two division finals.
