The Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital (CPDMH) has announced the temporary closure of its Emergency Department (ED) to prioritize the safety and well-being of patients and staff. The closures are a result of a shortage of nursing staff, but the hospital assures the public that the rest of its facilities are fully operational and committed to providing quality care.
The ED closure will take effect today, Friday, June 23rd, starting from 4 p.m. Normal services will resume promptly at 7 a.m. on Saturday, June 24th. However, it is important to note that the ED will need to close again on Saturday, June 24th at 7 p.m. before reopening at 7 a.m. on Sunday, June 25th.
During these temporary closures, individuals in need of immediate medical attention are urged to call 9-1-1. The responsive Lanark County Paramedic Service will promptly dispatch paramedics to transport patients to the nearest available Emergency Department for the necessary care.
In addition, CPDMH reminds the public that they can seek health advice or speak with a Registered Nurse by dialing 8-1-1. The Health Connect Ontario program, which replaced Telehealth Ontario, operates 24/7 and offers valuable support to individuals seeking medical guidance.
