The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit has paused low-cost rabies vaccinations this year.
In a media release, the health unit contributes what they call a difficult decision due to a declining number of pet owners accessing low-cost clinics.
They also said the past few years for local vets have been “challenging,” and the health unit’s seen a “significant number of veterinarians,” without the capacity to participate in these clinics.
The health unit says they’ll promote any planned rabies vaccine clinics on social media, and local vet services may still provide their own low-cost clinics, independent of the health unit.
