Smiths Falls is once step closer to a new long-term care facility.
The town’s committee of the whole voted to lift the holding provision last week – a fairly administrative measure – at the undeveloped 51 Pearl Street property.
Director of Public Works Paul McMunn filled in at the meeting for senior planner Karl Grenke and fielded questions.
Like the one asked by councillor Jennifer Miller, if there was any safety concerns there’s only one road in and out of the 35 acre lot.
McMunn’s said the site plan while not yet approved, has run the gauntlet and has so far passed.
The lot is owned by Broadview Nursing Centre Limited, the 128-unit building would front on Pearl Street and Davis Drive and to the west of the locale is Smiths Falls and District Collegiate Institute.
