Blood donation comes to mind every few months when the clinic rolls through town, but have you ever wondered what the blood you donate is used for?
Maureen MacFarlane, Community Development Manager with Canadian Blood Services says that donated blood has a variety of applications.
There are four main blood groups, O, A, B, and AB. The most important of that group is referred to by MacFarlane as “liquid gold” – O negative blood is the universal donor.
Canadian Blood Services is coming to gather donations at the North Grenville Municipal Centre on Thursday (July 6), Carleton Place on July 12th, and in Almonte and Perth in August. Visit blood.ca to sign up.
