With everyone out enjoying time on the water, the risk of drowning needs to be addressed.
The Leeds Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit says it’s a far too common occurrence across the country, and a few seconds turns into a tragedy.
Public health nurse Jenny Vandermeer weighs in.
Vandermeer says it doesn’t take much for one to drown.
Vandermeer understands it’s a bit of a hassle to take your child out of the water if you have to leave the area for a moment, but it could save their life. She adds it can happen anywhere, it only takes a few centimeters of water for a child to drown.
