The province is auditing the Smiths Falls Police Service.
The Inspectorate of Policing, or IOP, will be looking into the SFPS as part of a cyclical process of auditing police services across the province.
The newly formed division of the solicitor general will highlight a few areas of operations of the SFPS they’d like to review to ensure things are above board and they’re meeting provincial standards.
Chief Mark MacGillivray outlines what the IOP will be looking into.
During their previous audit, the province looked into the handling of prisoners and missing persons reports.
The audit will begin near the end of 2023 and wrap up a year later.
