Overflowing garbage cans filled with items that could easily be recycled or composted are a common site at local festivals.
During the Stewart Park Festival, Climate Network Lanark took a proactive approach and with the help of 40 volunteers, properly sorted the paper, plastics, and compost generated at the weekend-long festival.
They also guided the concert-goers to a station where they could correctly dispose of their waste so it wouldn’t wind up in a landfill.
As a result the festival took a significant step towards shrinking its environmental impact.
