The OPP wants to make all motorists aware of the Civic Day long weekend traffic safety campaign.
This year the campaign focuses on Ontario’s Move Over law. This law serves to protect police, other emergency services and tow truck personnel who are parked or stopped on the roadside to carry out their work. Officers also will be targeting inattentive drivers, aggressive drivers and impaired drivers.
It is the responsibility of all motorists to be aware of and comply with the law that has been in place since 2003. Failure to comply carries a $490 to $2,000 fine plus three demerit points.
