The Health Unit is warning about the dangers of second hand smoke, particularly in outdoor, common-use spaces like parks.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Linna Li told Lake 88’s In Focus sometimes people don’t realize they shouldn’t be smoking in certain places.
Li says the Smoke-Free Ontario Act dictates where people can smoke. Local inspectors enforce the rules.
Something to note during the summer: Don’t smoke at parks or on sports fields. Even though it’s outdoors, it still against the provincial and local rules.
