The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) wants to make sure you know about scams on the internet.
Recently, the OPP had a situation where someone got tricked online. They got an email from a company that works with computers. The email said the person owed $400 and it would be taken out of their account automatically. Luckily, the person knew it was a trick and didn’t lose any money.
To protect yourself, be careful if someone asks you for money or cryptocurrency online. Don’t hurry to decide – you’re the one in charge. Take a step back and ask questions.
If you think you might have been scammed, get in touch with the OPP or Crimestoppers.
