Everyone knows that buying local produce is the best way to get good quality food – especially this time of year.
But living in Ontario, the weather is largely unpredictable according to producer Stephen Boersma.
He says while this year has been relatively strong growing conditions for local farmers, they aren’t always so lucky, and you have to plan ahead.
Boersma says that growing local produce is a passion and a privileges.
Boresma says that shopping local ensures the best possible product, with his farmers market harvest usually being less than 24 hours out of the ground or off of the stalk before it’s in your shopping bag.
