You can add Mike Schreiner, the leader of the Green Party in Ontario, to the long list of people calling for an independent, public inquiry into the Doug Ford government’s handling of the Greenbelt development.
At the centre of the controversy is local MPP and Minister of Housing and Municipal Affairs Steve Clark.
The Auditor General’s report found many problems with how greenbelt lands, set to be developed, were handed out to developers with ties to Clark’s former Chief of Staff Ryan Amato, who resigned early this week, and a lack of communication with stakeholder including local indigenous leaders.
Schreiner says people want the truth, and the only way they’ll get it is through a public inquiry.
