The Wellness Trail in Almonte is officially open.
There are five outdoor physical activity stations designed for all ages and abilities, ranging from Tai Chi spinners and a stationary bike to a balance beam and multi-fitness benches.
The Trail loop includes The Millworkers’ Staircase, a spot to launch a canoe, you can take a peaceful walk along the Tree of Life Labyrinth in the St. Paul’s Anglican Church garden or reflect at The Seven Gifts Indigenous art installation in Riverfront Park.
As well, the Gathering Place is a fully accessible outdoor eating spot and fitness area.
The initiative was a joint venture between Age-Friendly North Lanark and partners: Carebridge, St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Mississippi Mills All My Relations, and the Municipality of Mississippi Mills with funding through a federal grant from the Canada Community Revitalization Fund.
Ramsay Ward Councillor Vicki Lowe cut the ribbon for the celebration.
