Back to School means back to making lunches for our young students.
Registered Dietician Danielle Labonte says its important to pack a balanced lunch with at least one food from each of the categories on Canada’s Food Guide.
She also says there are some things you can do to help improve the odds that what you pack will get eaten.
Get them involved too, have them help pack their own lunch.
Labonte adds that with the cost of food these days, packing nutritious lunches can be a challenge. She says its a far reaching problem, but there are ways that you can stretch your dollar, at least a little.
She alco checks the flyers each week to find deals and ideas. Prepare your own food when possible as pre-packaged foods cost more. You can do this with cheese, crackers and much more.
Her final suggestion is using reusable containers, a bonus for the environment that keeps packaging and wrappers out of landfills.
