An investigation is underway, and a JK student at Rideau Vista Public School is now being home schooled after details on a March 2nd, 2023 incident came to light.
The Review-Mirror reports that Katie Hall’s child was quietly preparing for a play with a parent volunteer when a teacher entered and physically pulled her out of the room, stating that kindergarteners shouldn’t be there.
The report says the incident was unnecessary, as the child wasn’t misbehaving or posing a threat. Hall’s child is described as timid and quiet and needed comfort from another teacher.
Child and Family Services were contacted, but the school principal advised against getting police involved. The school board didn’t comment to the paper and the incident has been referred to the Ontario College of Teachers.
