Lanark County council went over their identified priorities until 2026 at the latest Corporate Services Committee meeting.
Earlier in the summer they were asked to categorize 15 issues for consideration under four categories from being marked as a key priority down to being taken off the list and disregarded for the rest of the term.
One of the items county councillor and Perth Mayor Judy Brown wants to be included is a public transit study.
The only item which fell into the ladder category was lobbying the provincial and federal government for basic income, with seven councillors asking for its removal.
However an amendment was made at the latest corporate services committee meeting and passed to have that item moved to the “park for now,” category and accept the rest of the list as-is.
A decision councillor Bill King opposed.
While broken down into these four sub-categories, each item will likely be up for deliberation come 2024 budget deliberations regardless of their present ranking.
The list can be found here.
