Constable Kenny Fuentes has spearheaded the CAMSafe program that’s arrived in Lanark County for the OPP to use and residents to sign up for.
With the growing number of cameras on people’s properties these days, the CAMSafe program makes use of them while investigating crime.
They do this by having people voluntary sign up to enter the database and they may get a call down the road from the OPP.
Fuentes stresses that they do not have access to what’s on your cameras.
It’s been around for several years after starting in Belleville and it’s since been adopted across the OPP as an effective tool of identifying criminals, particularly committing property crimes and thefts from vehicles.
