As previously reported by Lake 88, Caivan, the developer seeking to build 940 homes on the Perth Golf Course Lands, has filed an appeal with the Ontario Land Tribunal to challenge the application conditions.
In August, during a public meeting, Perth’s planning staff raised various concerns, leading to a lack of approval and prompting this appeal.
A pre-merit video hearing at the tribunal is set for December 14. We’ll be monitoring this process closely and will provide you with updates as they become accessible.

Rather than working with developers, Perth seems to have a penchant for taking the opposite tack. If it can find a roadblock to progress, it will. If it can thwart development, it will. If it can find a method to increase the cost of anything, it will. It is high time Perth council and the aged, creeky and out-of-touch background advisors move into this century and stop dwelling in its 1800s military settlement mindset. 940 homes +/- would be good for business, increase sales in the worshipped downtown area and provide funds for much-needed improvements in things like sewage treatment, roads and other infrastructure. Perth, try cooperation rather than obfuscation. You might like it.

There is some confusion about this. THe OLT case status now says that Dec 14 is a case management (not pre merit) conference for Caivan’s appeal of Lanark County. (Scroll down from the main listing for OLT-23-000534)
Previously, I received notification of a case management conference on Nov 14 to see about combining all of Caivan’s appeals (of the County and of the Town of Perth) into one case.
You need to check with the OLT planner and with the Perth town planner/director of development what is going on and clarify. (Perhaps BOTH case management conferences are happening?)
This issue is of enormous interest to Perth and area citizens. We need to know what exactly is happening.
