Smiths Falls has reached a service agreement to create a Centre Street Revitalization Master Plan for $50,565.
GSP Group will craft the plan and outline what the future may hold for what the town feels is an under utilized area for several years, especially along the Rideau Canal.
Waterfront development is a key priority council is focusing on.
Councillor Chris McGuire feels the town may be biting off more than it can chew, because the fate of the heritage water treatment plant which caught fire earlier this year still has to be decided.
The last time the former plant was discussed at a council meeting was mid-August, with the matter not reaching chambers since.
Councillor Dawn Quinn says this is long overdue, and the momentum has started.
McGuire stood alone in his opinion, as the motion to award the agreement passed 6-1.
