The Upper Canada District School Board has invested $500,000 into its Corrective Reading materials.
The program provides what it calls intensive and accelerated reading intervention through sequenced and planned lessons in an effort to give students the necessary structure and practice to become fluent readers.
Improving literacy has been identified as a key priority for the school board and this is part of their efforts to do so.
All 78 schools will receive this intensive reading program alongside professional development to ensure each school has at least one trained teacher.
