The provincial government’s lowered the eligibility age from 50 to 40 for self-referrals for publicly funded mammograms’ starting next fall.
Minister of Finance Peter Belthlenfalvy was on hand with Health Minister Sylvia Jones to make the announcement.
Belthlenfalvy says this decision carries significant importance.
The province estimates the changes will help more than 305,000 people and add 130,000 mammograms per year.
