Mississippi Mills is changing up the effective date for its Winter Parking Restrictions from November 1st of any given year to come into play on December 1st (of 2023) and remain in effect until March 31st of the following year.
The month’s delay has been well-researched, according to Town Public Works Director Cory Smith.
The move is in response to public concerns, as well as a notice of motion from Almonte Ward Councillor Mary Lou Souter.
Smith says there’s a contingency in the new policy to accommodate any earlier snow event, to “include any night where snow or freezing rain is forecasted, and any night where there is any accumulation of any snow or freezing rain, and shall remain in place for an additional four (4) calendar days after the accumulation of snowfall.”
