On this week’s Grant Can Cook, I tackled my mama’s homemade lasagna recipe.
After the success of last week’s burgers from my dad’s recipe, we doubled down on a family favourite and it did not disappoint.
What you need:
- 1 lb of lean ground beef
- 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
- Canned diced tomatoes with juice (680ml)
- 1 can of pasta sauce
- salt and pepper
- steak spice
- Hot sauce
- dash of sugar
- Cottage cheese
- Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- Lasagna noodle’s, oven ready or otherwise
- Pepperoni – 150g
- Shredded mozzarella
Steps:
- Throw in garlic, cook beef until brown, then drain
- Cook sauce with tomatoes, pasta sauce, spices, etc. Boil and simmer for 10 minutes
- In another bowl, mix 1 cup of Cottage cheese with 1 egg and 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese, set aside
- Place some meat on bottom of pan
- Add layer of noodles
- layer 1/3 of meat sauce on top, then approx. 50g of pepperoni.
- Layer 1/2 of cottage cheese, place noodles on top, add 1/3 meat sauce, 50g pepperoni
- repeat step above again, add shredded mozzarella cheese on top at end
- Cover lasagna, bake 350 degrees for 1 hour, 30 minutes – let sit 10 minutes before serving
