The Angel Tree program in Lanark County and its neighboring areas is celebrating its 38th year with an extraordinary 840 angels, thanks to Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville Family and Children’s Services partnering with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
These “angels” represent children directly associated with FCS and its programs, each deserving of a special Christmas gift. What sets this year apart is the program’s inclusivity. In addition to gifts for children, there’s an option to buy gift cards for teenagers or groceries for families in need, extending the holiday cheer.
Angel Trees featuring “Angel Cards” are available at various pickup points for anyone who wishes to participate. Each card represents a child’s unique holiday wish.
The Lanark County municipal offices of Tay Valley, Lanark Highlands, Drummond-North Elmsley, Montague, Beckwith, Town of Mississippi Mills and the Pakenham Library have been with the program since the beginning and are participating once again. We thank those employees who continue to monitor the trees and assist with the dispersal of the angels into the communities.
Our community partners this year in Perth are Albany, Eaton, Lanark County Administration, Wilson Street Auto Fleet & Tire, Spring Children, Perth Hospital, Perth Athletic Center, Lanark Dance Company, Perth Town Hall and Uniglass Plus. In Carleton Place the community partners are Kirk Orthodontics, Walmart, Connect Well, Ricks Glass Medic and Tinting, The Studio School of Dance and Heritage Dental. These community partners broaden the dispersal of angels within their workspaces and are a great assistance to our program.
In Smiths Falls, OPP East Region Headquarters continue to conduct an internal distribution of angels to OPP employees and Rideau Home Hardware will be our community partner.
All involved thank the gift givers for making a child’s Christmas much better.
