Smiths Falls Police Chief Mark MacGillivray provided an update on capital expenses the board and eventually council can expect when it comes to their 2024 budget submission.
The chief says there’s three big-ticket items this year they’re requesting. A new cruiser, the implementation of Next Gen 911, and new tasers.
He said the tasers will have an upfront cost but last for many years.
MacGillivray says their current tasers are outdated and among other things, the newer models come with safety improvements.
They’ll present their draft budget to council at the December 18th meeting.
