Councilors in the Town of Perth are now in possession of a report highlighting a significant budget deviation in the Mary Street construction project.
Town Director Grant Machan revealed cost overruns totaling $141,000, with the most substantial expense of $66,000 attributed to unexpected bedrock hardness, invoking what Machan calls “Machan’s Law.”
Notably, the report indicates no additional costs for the two-week delay caused by a council debate. The committee has approved the extra expenses, and local residents eagerly await the project’s completion after enduring months of disruption outside their front doors.
Ultimately, the Mary Street project faced unforeseen budget challenges, but with committee approval and community support, the end is just about in sight as residents await it’s completion.
