Upper Canada District School Board’s first ever Holocaust Education Week continues.
The board’s principal of Equity Inclusion Dan McRae tells Lake 88 News the board is responding to the Ministry of Education’s curriculum changes for grade 6 and grade 10 students.
McRae says the reported hate based incidents included but were not limited to homophobia, anti-black racism, Islamophobia, transphobia and anti-Semitism.
McRae says this year’s Holocaust Education week program was moved to late November in the UCDSB so that teachers had time to learn new material and the entire school body could participate in Remembrance Day activities earlier in the month.
