Today, Friday December 1st is World AIDS Day.
HIV and Aids affects a large number of people around the world, but the numbers locally are low, about 0.1% of people in Ontario are estimated to be living with HIV.
Our Health Unit’s Medical Officer of Health Dr. Linna Li says keeping that number down is part of what they do.
Li says treatment is the main reason infections rates here are down.
Only about 0.1% of people in Ontario are estimated to be living with HIV. That percentage is much higher globally.
