Smiths Falls Mayor Shawn Pankow says their shared services agreement has gone up with Lanark County.
A single tier municipality, Smiths Falls has had a long-standing relationship with the County which allows them to pay into accessing the services they provide for their second tier municipalities.
But much like everything else, that price has gone up for 2024.
Pankow says it’s a sizeable chunk tied to the costs increases of everything, but nothing to make a fuss about when they consider what they receive in return.
Smiths Falls will pay an additional $223,000 in 2024, bringing their annual total to about $2.65 million. That’s up 9% from last year.
