Eastern Ontario Warden Caucus Chair Peter Emon and Vice-Chair Bonnie Clark met provincial officials at Queen’s Park in Toronto to present thier strategic priority: 7 in 7+ Regional Housing Plan.
The EOWC’s goal is to build 28,000 housing units in 7 years in eastern Ontario.
7,000 of those units would be for municipal community housing wait lists.
The EOWC’s Chair and Vice-Chair met with the Honourable Lisa Thompson, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs; the Honourable Graydon Smith, Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry; the Honourable Rob Flack, Associate Minister of Housing; and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Matthew Rae.
The Chair and Vice-Chair also emphasized the progress on the Frontenac Municipal Services Corporation project, focusing on expedited development of rural housing and necessary waste/wastewater services.
No word on how their presentation was received, but they will meet again to talk about it durng ROMA in January.
