It’s an increase in some but a decrease in others when reviewing the 2024 fees for Smiths Falls.
Councillor Jennifer Miller swayed her colleagues to not include the proposed event and festival fees staff suggested for this year, believing that’s an extra hurdle community groups do not need to deal with.
In other categories, arena fees and ice rentals are up across the board, as are plots at Hillcrest Cemetary. Animal tags and the like are staying the same, while child development centre fees are seeing a dramatic slash in costs.
Corporate services matters are all seeing slight increases, and there’s jumps in some heritage house museum memberships and rentals but day camps, workshops and similar events are becoming free to attend.
