Lanark County is submitting a joint application with the County of Renfrew to launch programs to help new Canadians settle and acclimatize to rural living and the respective counties.
The program would be covered entirely through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada if their application was successful.
Clerk Jasmin Ralph was asked what the county would do if they were denied funding.
The program would be a rural mobile service delivery model which would see staff – which would be a program manager, a part-time coordinator and two settlement officers – travel to meet clients to help provide access to settlement services like employment supports, language training, and more.
