The provincial government has named Accreditation Canada as their inspection body to oversee the over 900 surgical and diagnostic centres in Ontario.
The independent not-for-profit organization has partners across Canada and the world, and they’ve been selected to develop and police a quality assurance program for these centres, says its CEO Leslee Thompson.
Health Minister Sylvia Jones says things have to change.
The province also said they’re expanding the number of community surgical and diagnostic centres licensed in the province to deliver additional OHIP insured services starting next spring.
