A new group’s formed with the goal to bring co-operative housing to Tay Valley.
Steven Welchner and the Linden Housing Co-Operative have identified county-owned land in the area and hope to build up to an all-affordable 80 unit co-op.
The need for affordable housing is widely known, but myFM asked Welchner if he was concerned they’d be turned away by the county when the time comes to purchase the property at a nominal fee after a recent pitch for affordable units in Perth was shot down.
They’re launching a website on the same day as their GoFundMe campaign as they look to pay for a feasibility study, the first of many steps in their future pitch.
You’re invited to North Folk Cafe Wednesday night at 7 p.m. to learn more. RSVP by emailing info@lindencoop.ca.
