Tay Valley Township received $60,000 through a provincial Inclusive Community Grant for its accessible age-friendly sports & recreation activities programs.
Reeve Rob Rainer said this is a good step to keep an aging population active.
A survey conducted by the Township last fall showed the most requested activities from residents were groups for pickleball, walking, and bird watching.
They’ll be using the funds to hire a sports and recreation coordinator, pay for instructor fees and they’ll be putting up notice boards so people can learn what’s going on and where.

$60,000 is not a livable wage for any single person with a mortgage and a car payment and property taxes and insurance, and all the other bills that come in every month. Add another 5G to that salary and then applicants might STAY working at the township.
