The Mississippi Mills Public Library received some provincial praise and awards at a Toronto conference last month.
Among them was the Angus Mowat Award of Excellence for its youth STEM program, which the library’s CEO Christine Row said has greatly expanded.
Row herself won some hardware as the recipient of the W.J. Robertson Medallion for Public Librarian of the Year award, given to someone who demonstrates outstanding leadership. She calls that an honour.
Row feels the role of libraries in today’s world is only going to grow.
The MMPL also received its second Provincial Certificate of Accreditation for being one of only 36 out of 260 libraries to meet all 179 standards set by a governing body.
