At the Community Services Committee meeting for Lanark County council on Wednesday, councilors unanimously approved a $296K fund to Lanark County Mental Health for supported transitional housing for 11 people at the now vacant Willowdale Retirement Home in Smiths Falls. The monies are to come from a County homelessness prevention program.
When questioned by council on how the new operation would fit into the neighbourhood, County Director Emily Hollington responded.
The residences will be available as soon as minor renovations are completed.
