After residents questioned how snow was being removed from streets and sidewalks earlier this winter, Smiths Falls public works director Paul McMunn spoke to Council on changes to snow removal with a hybrid system.
Many in the town took to public message boards after snowfalls this season left sidewalks covered for days. At the time, the town said they were using a new method that was in use in several other communities across the region.
Some worried about walking their kids to bus stops or schools down side streets because the sidewalks were not passable.
In addition to putting the hybrid model in place, Paul also committed to creating a written winter operations policy for council review and approval.
