High water season is here and the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority wants you to be prepared as they expect a widespread melt across the watershed this week with warmer temperatures.
Inspecting your sump pump and installing a battery backup is a good way to be sure you’ll have the help you need if the water comes.
Removing valuables from basements or lower floors could help minimize flooding damage as well.

- Ensuring easy access to a portable backup generator and pump
- Ensuring downspouts are clear and the outlet is at least three metres from the dwelling
- Securing items that might float away as flows increase
