Last week, a train car was engulfed in flames just outside Merrickville.
Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC), verified that Montague Fire responded and successfully extinguished the fire in a rail car close to Montague around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.
There were no reported injuries.
As a precautionary measure, a section of Highway 43 was temporarily shut down.
Details regarding the cargo within the car were not disclosed.
