Smiths Falls Police have released more information on yesterday’s incident that had people sheltering in place.
They report that at about 1130 yesterday morning, they got a report from a female that she was assaulted inside a residence on Lavinia St by another female.
Further information said a man wanted by the OPP on numerous charges was also inside, possibly armed with a handgun.
OPP assisted Smiths Falls Officers with their Emergency Response Team, Tactics and Rescue Units and under an abundance of caution for public safety, secured the area.
Once the residence was cleared, investigation revealed the man was at another location at Parkland Court. Police obtained a warrant and found the 34 year old hiding in the home. They did not find a gun.
The OPP now has him in custody.
Both the OPP and Smiths Falls Police thank the public for their support during this operation.
A report late yesterday morning said one woman had assaulted another at a home. They also were told a man wanted by the OPP for a number of offenses was there, possibly armed with a gun.
They secured the area just to be safe.
They actually found the wanted man hiding at another home in the town – they didn’t find a gun though. The OPP now has him in custody. No details have been released about chares to the woman.
