myFM asked MPP for Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston John Jordan about funding allotments for healthcare in Perth, and why one clinic received millions, while another didn’t.
The MPP says first of all, getting funding for the clinic is a reason to celebrate.
Jordan says resources coming into the town will benefit the system overall, and notes the funding in question isn’t for physicians specifically.
Jordan also says his government’s commitment to primary care isn’t just through funding clinics.
Other resources on the ground should improve the overall primary care situation too, according to the MPP who welcomes the funding coming into the clinic.
He also notes that in last week’s budget there was additional funding made available for primary care.
As for other organizations looking for primary care funding, Jordan says he’s always there to advocate for local health care providers.
He says all involved are taking full advantage of what is available, and again notes that the fact Perth got $3.1 million is a good news story, seeing as how most communities across the province received no funding at all.
