Today (Friday) It’s National Grilled Cheese Day and the Perth Fore Department wants you to enjoy it safely.
They’ve offered up some safety tips as you whip up the ooey-gooey goodness.
- Keep the stovetop, oven, and burners clean.
- Stay in the kitchen when you’re frying, grilling, or broiling food. If you have to leave the kitchen, even briefly, turn off the stove.
- Always keep a lid nearby when cooking. If a small grease fire starts, slide the lid over the pan and turn off the burner.
- Turn pot handles toward the back of the stove so that no one can bump into them or pull them over.
- Watch what you heat. Set a timer to remind you that you are cooking.
- Unattended cooking is the leading cause of cooking fires and deaths. Stand by your pan. If you leave the kitchen, turn off the burner.
And don’t forget the ketchup!
