Gas prices in Lanark County and Eastern Ontario are set to increase to levels not seen since August of 2022, when more of the country eased pandemic restrictions.
Canadians for Affordable Energy President Dan McTeague predicts that prices in our listening area will jump a whopping 14 cents per litre, not only here but clear cross the province.
That would be fuel at about $1.74 per litre as prices in Perth, Smiths Falls and Carleton Place hovered around the $1.60 mark Wednesday morning.
McTeague is blaming weakness in the Canadian dollar and the annual switch by refineries to the more expensive summer-blend gasoline.
The increase also follows the Federal Carbon Tax hike which has already added another 3 cents per litre in local pumps.
